Refurbishment Begins at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Bungalows

Disney has officially started refurbishment work on the bungalows at the Polynesian Village Resort. The ongoing upgrades are part of a broader renovation plan as the resort prepares for the opening of the highly anticipated DVC Island Tower.

Polynesian Village Resort Bungalows Under Construction

The Polynesian Village Resort is known for its luxurious over-water bungalows, which rank among the most sought-after accommodations at Walt Disney World. These bungalows, perched over the serene waters, are now surrounded by scaffolding as crews work to refresh the exteriors.

The refurbishment efforts seem to be focused primarily on the exterior of the bungalows at this stage. Construction workers have been seen performing maintenance tasks such as painting, with scaffolding set up around the first two buildings.

Refurbishment Limited to Exterior for Now

While the interior of the bungalows remains untouched for the time being, it’s clear that Disney is making good on its promise of ongoing improvements. During the summer, Disney announced that the Polynesian Village Resort would undergo construction and refurbishment through 2026. So far, visitors have observed power washing and painting of many resort buildings, particularly the stilt-supported bungalows.

Despite the construction work, guests continue to be captivated by the bungalows’ distinctive design. The Bora Bora Bungalows, in particular, have remained a highlight of the resort, offering stunning views and an exclusive stay experience. These updates are intended to preserve that charm while enhancing the overall look and feel of the resort.

Anticipating the DVC Island Tower Opening

The ongoing renovations come as part of preparations for the new Disney Vacation Club (DVC) Island Tower, which is set to be a major addition to the Polynesian Village Resort. This expansion will offer even more high-end accommodations for guests, further solidifying the resort’s reputation for luxury.

As the project moves forward, Disney fans can expect more updates on the status of both the bungalows and the DVC Island Tower. With construction expected to continue over the next couple of years, the Polynesian Village Resort is set to remain a top destination for visitors seeking a blend of relaxation and magic.
