Disney has finally revealed the opening date for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Disneyland. The much-anticipated attraction will officially debut on November 15, 2024, in the newly renamed Bayou Country, marking a significant update to the park’s offerings.
A New Chapter for Disneyland
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is set to replace the classic Splash Mountain ride, which has been closed for the past four years. The decision to close the original ride was part of Disney’s ongoing efforts to modernize and introduce more inclusive stories to its parks. Splash Mountain, which opened at Disneyland in 1989, was heavily inspired by the controversial 1946 film “Song of the South,” known for its outdated and offensive stereotypes.

Disney’s decision to reimagine the ride follows the company’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. The new attraction will be based on the 2009 animated film “The Princess and the Frog,” which features Tiana, Disney’s first Black princess. Tiana is portrayed as a talented and determined culinary expert who strives to achieve her dreams, making her an inspiring figure for guests of all ages.
A Fresh Experience with Familiar Thrills
Visitors to Disneyland can expect a completely new experience with Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, although some elements of the original ride will remain. The attraction will follow Tiana’s journey as she searches for musicians to perform at her Mardi Gras celebration. The ride will feature new music, animatronic characters, and story elements, while retaining the original ride track, vehicles, and the iconic 50-foot drop that promises to leave guests soaked.
Bayou Country, the new name for the area formerly known as Critter Country, will be home to several beloved attractions. These include The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes, and the newly reimagined Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree. The refurbished restaurant will offer a menu filled with Southern-style delights, such as pulled pork sandwiches, barbecue combo platters, ribs, and all the fixings, adding to the immersive experience.
Countdown to Opening Day
With the November 15 opening date now confirmed, excitement is building among Disney fans. The ride opened earlier this year at Walt Disney World, and the Disneyland version is expected to be just as popular. However, Disneyland has not yet announced how guests will queue for the ride. Options could include a combination of standby queues, virtual queues, or the Lightning Lane service, similar to what was implemented at Disney World.
As the opening date approaches, Disneyland will release more details about how visitors can experience Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. For now, fans can look forward to the new attraction and the opportunity to join Tiana on her journey down the bayou at Disneyland this November.
