Marvel is looking to a new Vision for its next TV offering. The iconic character, played by Paul Bettany, will be the centerpiece of Marvel’s latest series for Disney+, slated for a 2026 premiere. The series, currently untitled, will be helmed by Terry Matalas, known for his work on Star Trek: Picard. A writers’ room has already been established for the show, marking the beginning of its production phase.
Paul Bettany will return as Vision, a role he has portrayed in three Marvel films and the WandaVision series. Bettany also lent his voice to Jarvis, Tony Stark’s AI assistant, in the first three Iron Man movies. Vision’s last appearance in WandaVision saw his physical body resurrected with a new all-white appearance and no memories of his past. These memories were later restored by a spectral version of Vision conjured by Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) in her grief-induced hex over Westview, New Jersey.
Vision’s Journey Continues
The Vision series marks the second spin-off from WandaVision. The first, Agatha All Along, features Kathryn Hahn reprising her role as Agatha Harkness, Wanda’s enigmatic neighbor and fellow witch. This show is expected to debut in September, further expanding the WandaVision storyline.
Terry Matalas, the newly appointed showrunner for Vision, brings a wealth of experience from his recent work on Star Trek: Picard. Matalas also has notable credits as the creator and executive producer of Syfy’s 12 Monkeys series, based on the 1995 film directed by Terry Gilliam. Additionally, he served as a writer and executive producer on CBS’ MacGyver reboot. Matalas is represented by CAA and Anonymous Content.
Expanding the Marvel Universe on Disney+
Marvel Studios continues to broaden its television offerings on Disney+ with several upcoming series. In addition to Vision and Agatha All Along, fans can look forward to Daredevil: Born Again and Ironheart, both set for release next year. Animated series Eyes of Wakanda and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man are also on the horizon, promising a diverse array of content for Marvel enthusiasts.
Moreover, Marvel’s collaboration with Sony will bring Noir, a live-action series starring Nicolas Cage, to Amazon’s Prime Video. This series will explore a darker corner of the Spider-verse, further illustrating Marvel’s commitment to expanding its universe across different platforms and genres.
The resurrection of Vision and the introduction of new shows demonstrate Marvel’s dedication to developing complex narratives and beloved characters. With Terry Matalas at the helm, the Vision series promises to deliver a fresh and intriguing storyline, enriching the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Fans eagerly await the 2026 debut of Vision, as Marvel continues to push the boundaries of storytelling in its ever-expanding universe. The return of Paul Bettany as Vision, coupled with Matalas’ innovative leadership, sets the stage for a highly anticipated series that will undoubtedly captivate audiences worldwide.
