Disneyland Tickets Officially Sold Out for Tiana’s Bayou Opening

The transformation of Splash Mountain into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has been a major project for Disney, both at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. After months of anticipation, the attraction at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom debuted over the summer. Now, Disneyland’s version is set to open on November 15th, and excitement is already through the roof.

If you were hoping to snag tickets for opening day, you might be disappointed. Disneyland is completely sold out for November 15th, leaving no availability for those wanting to experience Tiana’s Bayou Adventure firsthand on its launch day. However, there is still some hope. Tickets are available for Disney California Adventure on that same day, and with park-hopping options, guests could still enter Disneyland later in the afternoon.

High Demand for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

The early sellout is a strong indicator of high demand for this revamped attraction. Despite the fact that we are more than two months away from the grand opening, the overwhelming interest among park guests has led to an early rush for tickets.

This attraction, based on Disney’s beloved film The Princess and the Frog, is taking the place of the long-standing Splash Mountain ride. For years, Splash Mountain had been a fan favorite, but its connection to Song of the South—a film that has long been controversial—left Disney with a need to modernize the experience.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure represents Disney’s commitment to inclusivity and updating its attractions with stories that resonate with today’s audiences. Replacing Splash Mountain with a ride inspired by one of Disney’s most popular modern princesses is a move that aligns with this mission.

A New Story for an Old Ride

While the ride mechanics of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will remain similar to Splash Mountain, the theming, characters, and music will undergo a complete overhaul. Guests will now find themselves in the heart of a New Orleans bayou, accompanied by Princess Tiana, Louis the alligator, and other characters from the film.

The ride will take guests on a musical journey through the vibrant sounds of New Orleans, featuring animals playing instruments and performing their own renditions of iconic songs from The Princess and the Frog. According to Ted Robledo, portfolio executive creative director of Walt Disney Imagineering, the journey will include beautiful scenery and lively jazz music, as visitors join Tiana in her search for musicians to complete her band.

Robledo explains, “As we move through the ride, guests will pass through a lush lagoon filled with the sounds of the bayou. They’ll meet a diverse cast of critters playing everything from jazz to zydeco. Along with Tiana and Louis, we’ll be shrinking down to frog-size, experiencing the bayou from a whole new perspective, with a little magic from Mama Odie.”

A Promising Future for Disneyland

The success of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Disney World, and the anticipated excitement for its opening in Disneyland, show that Disney’s decision to revamp Splash Mountain has struck a chord with its audience. By bringing a popular character like Tiana into the parks and creating an immersive experience inspired by the culture and music of New Orleans, Disney continues to innovate and engage fans.

As the November 15th opening approaches, those lucky enough to have tickets for opening day can expect an unforgettable journey through the bayou, while others will need to wait for another opportunity to experience this eagerly awaited ride.
