Disney parks are constantly updating their refurbishment schedules, making it challenging for guests to keep up with operating times and the latest news about their favorite attractions, resorts, shops, and restaurants. Here are a few major, upcoming changes that are either confirmed by the respective parks or strongly rumored for the near future.
In this month’s update, the popular Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios remains closed. The Country Bear Jamboree at Magic Kingdom continues its transformation into the “Country Bears Musical Jamboree.” Additionally, Test Track will close in mid-June, while Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is set to open on June 28.
Test Track at EPCOT
Dates: June 17, 2024 – TBC
In April, it was confirmed on the official Walt Disney World website that Test Track at EPCOT will temporarily close for refurbishment starting June 17, 2024. This closure was first announced at the D23 Expo in September 2023. The iconic Test Track, which opened in March 1999, will be reimagined with Chevrolet’s collaboration, inspired by the opening day attraction, The World of Motion. Further details are still awaited.
Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster Starring Aerosmith at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Dates: January 8, 2024 – Summer 2024
In December, Disney confirmed that the popular Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster would close on January 8 for an extended refurbishment to address mechanical issues. It is expected to reopen in the summer. According to a poster on the WDWMagic forums, the refurbishment will primarily fix the ride’s braking system, which has been prone to overheating and causing frequent shutdowns. Other issues with inconsistent lighting and effects may also be addressed. Despite rumors, this refurbishment will not involve a re-theme to Muppet band Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem.
Country Bear Jamboree at Magic Kingdom
Dates: January 27, 2024 – Late summer 2024
Walt Disney World updated its official Country Bear Jamboree page, confirming that Grizzly Hall would close on January 27 and is set to reopen this summer. The show is undergoing extensive reimagining into the new “Country Bears Musical Jamboree,” which will feature the bears singing reinterpreted Disney tunes in various country music genres, including rockabilly, bluegrass, pop-country, and Americana.
Blizzard Beach
Dates: March 17 – TBA
Blizzard Beach closed on March 16 for refurbishment, as confirmed by the official Walt Disney World calendar. Typhoon Lagoon reopened at this time. Since the COVID-19 closures, this pattern has been consistent. There is hope that both Disney water parks could open simultaneously this year, but this remains uncertain. If not, Blizzard Beach is expected to reopen in the fall when Typhoon Lagoon closes for its annual refurbishment.
These updates are part of Disney’s ongoing efforts to enhance guest experiences and maintain the high standards of their attractions. Stay tuned for further updates on these and other refurbishments at Walt Disney World.
