Disney Imagineering Applies for New Permit to Revamp EPCOT's Test Track

Walt Disney Imagineering has embarked on a new phase in the evolution of EPCOT’s iconic Test Track with the filing of a significant permit. Assigned to Jon Richards Company FL, Inc., a seasoned collaborator with Disney on projects like Cars Land and Tokyo Disney Sea, the permit hints at substantial changes ahead. Notably, it specifies “Install Set Elements,” suggesting a transformative vision for the beloved attraction.

A Shift in the Landscape

Recent developments indicate the beginning of a comprehensive refurbishment. Following the closure of Test Track on June 16, the removal of previous set pieces has commenced, and the pavilion entrance now stands concealed behind imposing walls. Formerly displayed GM vehicles now adorn the building’s exterior, marking a visible shift in the attraction’s presentation during this refurbishment phase.
