Disney Genie+ is undergoing significant changes at Walt Disney World.

Starting July 24, Disney Genie+ will be renamed Lightning Lane Multi Pass, and Individual Lightning Lanes will be called Lightning Lane Single Passes. This shift is part of a broader update to enhance guest experience by allowing ride and show reservations ahead of time, eliminating the need to wait until park days.

New System Introduction

Beginning on July 24, Lightning Lane Multi Pass will replace Genie+, and Lightning Lane Single Passes will take over from Individual Lightning Lanes. This update comes after Disney teased these changes last May.

“Lightning Lane passes will blend features from our current services and the previously offered FastPass+ service, giving guests the choice to plan ahead and removing the hassle of planning during their vacation,” the Florida resort announced Tuesday.

What Guests Should Know:

Guests can look forward to several improvements with the new Lightning Lane system. The Lightning Lane Multi Pass will include all rides currently under Genie+ and will also cover Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, opening on June 28. In contrast, the Lightning Lane Single Passes will cater to the most popular attractions at each park.

Advance Reservations

One of the most notable changes is the ability to reserve experiences ahead of time. Guests staying at Disney World’s resort hotels can make selections up to seven days in advance, covering up to 14 days of their stay. Other guests can book their experiences up to three days in advance.

Guests will be allowed up to three advance Lightning Lane Multi Pass selections per day of their trip. Once they complete their first experience at the park, they can book additional experiences, subject to availability. Meanwhile, Lightning Lane Single Passes will be limited to two per day, similar to the current Individual Lightning Lanes.

Disney World’s app and website will also be updated to simplify planning and purchasing, allowing guests to see prices and select attraction times before buying passes. Currently, guests must purchase Genie+ before viewing availability.

Pricing and Planning

Disney has confirmed that there will be no price increase associated with these changes. Pricing for Disney Lightning Lane will continue to vary by date and park.

Why the Change?

According to Disney World, the decision to revamp the system stems from guest feedback. “Guests have told us they would prefer to have the option to do more of their planning before their theme park day. So, this summer we will make changes to our Disney Genie+ service and individual Lightning Lane entry, including new ways to plan ahead.”

Guests will now be able to select experiences and times before buying a pass, providing more transparency and flexibility in planning.

Disney Genie Tool

The free Disney Genie planning tool will remain available for all guests to help plan their trips. The changes will only affect the paid Genie+ service.

Disneyland Changes

Disneyland will also adopt the new names for Disney Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes, though their operation will remain the same as currently.

With these updates, Disney aims to improve the guest experience, offering more convenience and control over their park visits.
