Disney World has quietly ended a longstanding free amenity, removing it from the parks indefinitely.
When visiting Walt Disney World Resort, guests can typically discover numerous complimentary surprises throughout the parks. Those staying at a Disney Resort Hotel often enjoy even more free perks. However, a recent change has affected the beloved tradition of Disney pin trading, compelling guests to spend more on this cherished activity.
Disney Pin Trading Policy Change
During a recent visit to Magic Kingdom Park, Inside the Magic uncovered that cast members are no longer distributing free pin backs to guests at various locations within the resort. This news has come as a shock, as many stores in Disney World used to keep buckets full of pin backs for guests engaging in pin trading or for those who lost them in the parks.
Inside the Magic inquired at the Emporium on Main Street, U.S.A., Magic Kingdom Park’s largest gift and souvenir shop, if they had any spare pin backs. The response was that they no longer offered this service. Similarly, cast members at the Frontier Trading Post in Frontierland gave the same answer, suggesting instead that guests purchase a pack of Mickey pin backs from the store.
The sudden cessation of free pin back distribution has also affected Disney Springs. When asked about spare pin backs, cast members appeared confused and were surprised to find that the boxes previously kept behind counters for this purpose were no longer there.
In all instances, cast members expressed their apologies for the abrupt removal of this free offering. However, none could specify the exact date when the service was terminated or if it would ever be reinstated at Magic Kingdom or Disney Springs.
