Trick-or-treat at Disneyland's California Adventure

Disneyland has cracked down on scalpers selling tickets for after-hours, separate admission events.

Disney’s Stand Against Scalpers

Disneyland has issued a stern warning for those considering purchasing overpriced tickets for the sold-out Oogie Boogie Bash event from online resellers. The popular Halloween event tickets, originally priced between $134 and $189, are being listed for as much as $900 on StubHub, according to MousePlanet. Disneyland’s message is clear: Buyer beware.

Reseller Risks and Consequences

“If Disney is able to identify the sellers of these tickets, they can be revoked,” MousePlanet reports. The annual Halloween event, which takes place on 27 select nights from Aug. 25 through Oct. 31 at Disney California Adventure, sold out in just 11 days. Despite Disneyland’s previous crackdowns on ticket scalping on platforms like eBay, resellers continue to post Oogie Boogie Bash tickets on StubHub.

Purchasing these tickets through a reseller is strongly discouraged. “Disney has demonstrated that they can work with the site to obtain the identity of resellers, void their tickets, and revoke their Magic Key passes where applicable,” MousePlanet noted.

Strict Ticket Policies

Oogie Boogie Bash tickets are non-transferable and non-resellable once purchased, according to Disneyland officials. The resort teams have an established process for investigating and voiding resold tickets when necessary. The terms and conditions regarding ticket sales are clearly outlined on the Disneyland website, emphasizing that tickets are non-transferable and may not be sold.

Theme park reservations are void if transferred or sold, and Disneyland reserves the right to cancel any tickets at any time for any reason. Additionally, Disneyland tickets are non-refundable.

Consequences for Rule Breakers

Magic Keyholder Andrew Rich learned this lesson the hard way when his annual pass was revoked for a year after he sold a pair of Sweethearts’ Nite tickets on eBay for more than face value. This violation of Disneyland’s terms and conditions resulted in significant repercussions for Rich, highlighting the seriousness with which Disneyland enforces its ticket policies.

Alternative Ways to Attend

Despite the sellout, there is still a way to experience this year’s Oogie Boogie Bash event — but it comes at a premium. The Oogie Boogie Bash VIP Tour offers an exclusive experience for up to eight people, including a tour guide for eight hours, priority access to Villains Grove, reserved viewing for the Frightfully Fun Parade, plus food, drinks, and exclusive souvenirs. This VIP package is priced between $7,500 and $8,500, depending on the date.

The 5-hour after-party runs on select dates, starting at 6 p.m. nightly, with mix-in beginning three hours earlier.

Disneyland’s firm stance against ticket scalping aims to protect guests and ensure fair access to its popular events. By purchasing tickets through official channels and adhering to the park’s terms and conditions, visitors can enjoy the magic of Disneyland without the risk of invalidated tickets or revoked passes.
